Brian Setzer Signature™ Neck Pickup - Universal Mount™
The Brian Setzer Signature pickup is derived from Brian’s longtime preference for our TV Classic but is a bit more over-the-top than our other Filter’tron creations. It features a proprietary design which employs special-alloy pole screws (with more steel) and mismatched coils which highlight the response of the magnet. This combination of small tweaks provides a perfect sonic match to the man’s persona and musicianship.
Tone/Characteristics
Utilizing unique coils and pole pieces, this design provides more clarity while producing some of the punchiest low-mid response in our line. The classic Setzer sound is slightly overdriven yet clear, with a defined and tight/punchy low end. With slightly higher output than a TV Classic, the Setzer Signature punches through a mix with ease and dexterity.
Output/Power
DC Resistance is not entirely an indicator of true pickup output, although it can be helpful.
Bridge: DCR - 6.3k / Inductance - 2.35H
Neck: DCR - 4.5k / Inductance - 1.7H
Installation
The Universal Mount is a direct drop-in replacement for standard sized Filter'trons - with and without "ears" or "clips". This pickup comes with two pieces of compression rubber, 2 mounting (wood) screws, and the Universal Mount Clip Pack which includes everything you will need to mount the pickups to your ring or pickguard.
Wiring Notes
This pickup is shipped with 4-conductor wire but is ready for standard 2-conductor connection. The extra red and green wires come soldered together and taped off - to split coils, send these to ground.
Splitting coils is generally not recommended for this pickup due to low coil output but some say it works well to their taste. 4-Conductor wire is also convenient for custom switching i.e. pickups combined in series or parallel.
